HAWKLORDS, FRIENDS AND RELATIONS: 30TH ANNIVERSARY VOLUME- A NEW DAWN
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the HFAR series of compilation albums centred around Hawkwind and the Hawklords

credits

released January 12, 2023

1- Digital Age- Earthlab The brainchild of former Hawkwind lead guitarist, Jerry Richards and Spectrum/E.A.R. synth and audio wizard, Alf Hardy, Earthlab has been around in one form or another since 1992 and exists as a vehicle for some of their more exotic audio aspirations. (4'20")

2- Fly Into The Night- Gunslinger This is one of the songs from Gunslinger's 1st studio session in 1981 with the original line up of Nigel Potter, guitar and vocals, Andy Lamb(Liffy) on drums and Alan Davey on Bass! (4'11")

3- Robot-(live)- The Hawklords 'It was a beautiful sunny day by the sea in Herne Bay in September, 2008. Nik Turner had put together a benefit memorial concert to commemorate and celebrate the life of Robert Clavert - in aid of his widow, Jill. It was a joyful and spirited occasion - and THREE of the original Hawklords are playing on this fired-up version of the Calvert classic.' (12'22")

4- Felice- Underground Zero This was inspired by a character in the series ‘Saga of the Exiles’ by Julian May in which a group of late 21st and early 22nd century outcasts travel through a one-way time gate to Earth’s Pliocene epoch in the hope of finding a better world for themselves. They find that the Earth is already inhabited by a race of aliens. The result of this meeting is explosively complicated! Of course, there could be other meanings to the song (8’05”)

5- My Secret Buddha- DanMingo Recorded at Cabin Studios in Coventry in 2003, this is one of over twenty tracks recorded in about a year by Steve Swindells 'little super-group' DanMingo. Drums:Jon Moss of Culture Club fame, bass:Winston Blissett, guitars:Jerry Richards, keyboards/vocals:Steve Swindells.(4’25”)

6- Outlaw- Steve Swindells This is taken from 'The Invisible Man', one of the Lost Albums - a double-CD, limited-edition boxed set coming soon on Flicknife. The whole album was recorded and mixed in just two days in Pete Townsend's old Eel Pie studios in Soho in 1980.(3’29”)

7- The Naked and Transparent Man- Bob Calvert This is a real bonus! A Calvert track previously unreleased with a little help from Mr Davey and by kind permission of Jill Calvert. Worth buying the album for that track alone. The man was a genius. (3'42")

8- Make Believe It Real- Spirits Burning With Bridget Wishart, Dan Thompson, David Speight, Jasper Pattison, Simon House, Paul Hayles, Don Falcone, Harvey Bainbridge and Daevid Allen this an all star line-up! Simon House played with Bowie, Daevid Allen led ‘Gong’ for years, Paul Hayles was a ‘Sonic Assassin’ while Bainbridge and Thompson were long serving members of Hawkwind.(6’00”)

9- Stream- Harvey Bainbridge 'After visiting the DNA lounge, it becomes apparent that we are just streams of particles vibrating in order to appear solid' H.Bainbridge, who plays all instruments on this pulsating track.(6’09”)

10-Vision Quest- Bedouin Arabic scaling with a pounding rock rhythm made this Bedouin song a big favourite with fans, Alan Davey on bass, synths and vocals, Dan Thompson on drums and Glenn Povey on guitar! (6'38")

11- Angel Down- Alan Davey A classic track from Alan's Eclectic Devils solo album sounding like it could have been a lost song from Hawkwind's Hall of the Mountain Grill era. Simon House at his best guesting on Mellotron and Violin! (8'08")
