LASTWIND is the band of former Sonic Assassins and Hawkwind member Paul Hayles. Paul was a former member of The Sonic Assassins whose first 12” E.P ‘Free Fall’ was released by Flicknife in the early ‘80’s. It was one of the names Hawkwind used in those late ‘70’s days when the name was being fought over by various ex-members. The Sonic Assassins also featured Dave Brock, Harvey Bainbridge, Robert Calvert and Martin Griffin. Hayles, Bainbridge and Griffin were members of Ark before forming the Sonic Assassins and then going on to be the new Hawkwind. ‘High On Life’, the second album from Lastwind, is released as Paul’s book ‘Sonic Assassin – A Life’ companion CD: the book is a detailed account of his life in Hawkwind and his fall out with Dave Brock
